The anti Coach O crowd seems to be harping on Coach O's record at Ole Miss. Obviously, people learn from their mistakes and move on. Coaches that come to mind that were fired and have become super successful:

Bill Belichek - Fired from Cleveland and the rest is history
Pete Carroll - Fired from NYJ and New England - Went onto Won NC and SB

Below link is for the NFL but goes hand in hand with Major D1 (SEC) programs

Second stint Super Bowl coaches

From Tony Dungy
quote:

“I think you do learn a lot from experience,” said Dungy. “I thought I was a pretty good coach when I got my head coaching job at 40-years old, and thought I was ready. I was shocked at how much better I was at 47. I won a lot of games after I got fired in Tampa Bay. What you learn is situations and how things play out. Because you get fired doesn’t mean you were a bad coach or you weren’t smart. It just means it wasn’t the right situation.”

Give me two examples of a college coach who got fired and turned it around to win a conference or natty championship.

Those 2 were also known as two of the best football minds in the game when they were hired.

Hey moron, I just started this thread. NFL =/= college. Read my thread. Fired college coaches don't make a comeback. It just doesn't happen.

1. Belichick still has the last playoff win in browns history.

think about that. he won a playoff game. WITH THE BROWNS.

2. Carroll went to the playoffs back to back years in NE

3. Dungy went to the playoffs a ton in Tampa

Now lets look at O. The worst coach in Ole Miss history. His winning percentage was WORSE THAN CURLEY HALLMAN'S!!!

Not exactly the same thing as the first 3, is it?

Except both of those guys went on to get multiple HC gigs and O has not. Lets hire a career DL coach though

Holy frick.

Look at their predecessor and successor at both places.

Then look at their actual records at these places. Belichick brought the Browns to 11 wins and the post season. The Browns.

Then look at their history as elite coordinators.

Now compare that to Ed Orgeron.

I'm not a coach O fan by any means, but Gene Stallings was terrible at A&M and won a NC at Bama. At the same time he was also a NFL head coach and was below average there. Regardless he even won a conference championship at A&M, something O never did.

O is more like Mike DuBose.

This.

He wasn't just bad. He was historically bad and regressed every year. Ole Miss went 3-21 in conference and 0-8 his third year when it was "his program with his players and coaches". He also has never been a coordinator, much less an elite one like these other guys.

Also, lets take a look at all the failed head coaches that were hired for second chances and still sucked. I bet that list is 100000000000x longer.

Beating a dead horse won't make it come to life.

This is by far the shittiest argument any of you idiots can come up with. Everyone else in this thread has already pointed out why. And let's be honest, pointing out 2 coaches who are widely considered some of the best minds in football, even before they got fired, to Coach O is just plain stupid.

Those two were proven coordinators in the NFL. It was only a matter of time before they were successful.

Remind me about the coordinator positions that CEO has held.

(Crickets)

I'm stunned by some of the stupidity on this board.

How many of those coaches only won less than 30% of their games the 1st time around?
