Hey-I'm all for coaches moving up to what they feel are better gigs.....but before they do, they should finish out the season where they are!! Bowl games are rewards for having a winning season but in some cases, a lot is on the line. Recruits, prestige, financial rewards-just to name a few and the winner of their bowl game usually places them in a better ranking. The players gave an all out effort and the fans supported the team's effort. So for a coach to just up and leave before the last game is not fair to the program, the players, or the fans who played a huge part in the coach's success. The NCAA should step in and put in some guidelines about this. No coach should be allowed to be contacted until after January 2nd and during the period when the conference championships are done and bowls assignments are handed out, a recruiting DEAD PERIOD should be enforced so no one gets an upper hand in that area. During this period, coaches and players can concentrate on their bowl games, recruits can concentrate on their exam studies and take the time to discuss their possibilities with their families without added pressure from recruiters, and AD's can put together lists and have time to properly vet candidates without having to rush possibly avoiding the fiasco that occurred at Tenn! After Jan 2nd-most bowl games are over except the playoffs and NC but those coaches are usually not going anywhere!!! Let the interviews and recruiting begin!!!!

What your not figuring is the early signing period now. I think you will see most changes done before that Dec. 20th signing period.

Like I said-changes and guidelines would have to be put in place!

And what he's saying is those changes and guidelines are unfeasible and ridiculous just so you don't get your feelings hurt by a coach taking a better job every few years.

I'm no fan of Daniel Mullen but he has to start recruiting for Florida asap. I was truly shocked when Coach Smart stayed on to coach the NC game at Bama. When it comes to recruiting there's not even a second to lose. What you should be angry about is Mullen lost to Ole Miss at home on the way out the door. I will never forgive Dennis Franchione for that 2002 Iron Bowl.

Not my feelings-programs in general. This way coaches don't have to lie to their players or play the I'm happy here game during the season. So tell me why those guidelines would be unfeasible and ridiculous?

That's my point! If we had these guidelines in place-coaches would not be able to sell out because of the uncertainty and their focus would have to be on the job at hand!!! Not mad about the loss-losing the QB and 5 turnovers would have done in Bama!!!

You want to suspend recruiting and coaching interviews for over a month, right after the regular season ends, and until a month before signing day, at the time of year that it's most convenient for everyone to do both.

Sure, we could move signing day, scrap the early signing period, jeopardize early enrollment, force feed hiring practices to schools, hamstring coaches ability both to get to work at their new job, as well as hire assistants, make up a bunch of more rules than there already are for the NCAA to selectively enforce...

or you could just accept this is part of the game, and you only care right now because it's affecting you for the first time in a decade.

this is for recruiting reasons, dude. Chill out.

Example - last year, Canada coached his bowl game with Pitt before coming to LSU. He wasn't "needed" in recruiting at LSU at that time.
