It starts with the o line we didn't have a good one this year, Gus did well with crhis todd and a good o line.
look I think Gus is a good coach, but like all coaches, a QB can make them look a genius or a big dummy.
And yes the OL is very important.
My only issue with Gus's offense is that it can be very fickle without the proper personnel, specifically the QB.
IMHO if Auburn goes 7-5 next year, Gus getting 3 million HC offers such as he turned down with Vandy won't ever happen... He will have to go Div II route after that happens...because it will be real clear, that Cam was the reason of him being a "Genius", rather than Gus really having something special in his coaching or scheme.
That whole term "the luster has worn off" is a reality with coaching hires

Derrr, you just won a National Championship

Derr, really couldnt be because we lost almost our entire offense from last year
You had several weapons back this year..Dyer, #43, and #23...all very talented! The first QB was a senior..right? I know some of your WR's were on the team last year as well... You lost Cam and most of the OL... I understand that's huge... Cam is a once a decade type of player... I guess that is part of my point... Gus rode his coattails
So you feel next year, you guys will be 10-2 type of team?

Was 1.5 million salary by the way, 3million was if he won a NC at vandy

Okay, you want to make a ban bet?

I am guessing you only know about Malzahn from 2010

I am familar with his prior successes.
Hey, if you guys dont' think he needs to find a good job while his name is hot, then so be it.
I don't care.... I think he is a good coach...and I am not ready to declare him a great OC coach...and we don't know anything about him being able to run a program.

No Junior, who wasnt even a really good prospect

Who knows, depends on how well our D shapes up and our o-line

Yet you continue to say he has only had success with Cam

His name is still hot, that would be why his name is being thrown out there for other head coaching jobs
He is young, just a few years out of high school and making 1.3 million a year, without having to have the burden of being a head coach. he has plenty of time

Last year Gus was named the best "O" coordinator in the country. He was not named "the best coordinator coaching the best offensive player in the country". Now a year later you are spewing BS about how he will have to go DII? What a crock. He didn't suddenly lose his geniousness overnight.

Coaches win all kinds of awards for going undefeated.. Players make plays...Good coaches understand this reality..and that's why recruiting and developing talent is key to being a "Great HC".

Well, apparenlty he did when Cam Newton left the program. Cam Newton would have AU 11-2, 12-1 this year.. He is that good.

or when he lost his whole offense along with cam, you're an idiot.

You are reinforcing my point. Gus is the same guy and was as good of coach this year as last year. People who know football realize this. Auburn exceeded expectations this year, last year, and the year before that. Coaches don't get stupid overnight. They probably work even harder in years where they have less talent.

eh...you guys just dont' want to give credit to talented players like Cam that make coaches look good.
coaches get too much blame and too much credit...many factors go into analyzing a teams results. Each year is different
I understand AU is rebuilding this year. but if Gus was the genius you guys paint him, he would have AU look better on offense this year...he would find a way, right?
so it's coaching, scheme and players making plays...with some luck mixed in...
When your name is hot, it's best to ride that wave when while you can...
Why is Sumlin so hot this year? hmmm well he had a QB that made a lot of plays against so so defenses...Houston is pretty good...Sumlin created that
The jury is still out...needs to be given a chance/time at the next level
But if Sumlin doesn't have great QB play this year and Houston goes 7-5...is he talking to Texas A$M today?
I think not, but I could be wrong... I still dont' know how Huge Freeze is

No we just know a football team is more than one player. Cam was awesome, but other players helped him be awesome.

So Malzahn has one bad year out of several and he is a DII coach now?

Again, if you dont see the inadequacies we had in blocking then well I dont know how else to smack you on the back of the head

He turned around a shite team for the past couple of years and also is a HC already and has had several years at being Cordinators at serveral top programs

I don't know...I just felt like stirring the pot over an Auburn fan being upset about Gus looking for a job during bowl season.
All coaching changes (interviews etc) happen during the bowl season, because schools looking to hire a HC want them to get started on recruiting asap...
It's a compliment when your coaches are being interviewed..

Only if he continues to be very picky while going 7-5 at AU
If AU goes 7-5 next year, Gus will have very few job offers...
I trust you understand the politics involved in coaching hires.

Well there you have it!
Sumlin went to Houston as his first HC job..
Gus turned down an SEC job

No I meant Div 1 offers.
I'm not hatin on Gus like you think...
this year is a year he needs to get out while he is popular among fan bases and big boosters wanting a new coach.
another 7-5 season and many will say,..."in big boy football leagues, Gus is average without a Cam Newton running his offense"
perception is reality
