If your primary strength in negotiations is how much $ do you want, you tend to fall short with high end candidates.

There is no such thing as a home run hire. Anyone LSU hires somebody will have a problem with. Riley and Aranda if truly in the mix would be least polarizing.

Get it through your heads that this is more than “just football”.
Riley made a comment supporting Joe Mixon. He’s out. Aranda was here for less and Orgeron. He’s out.
Either Matt or Stoops would be great hires should they want to fight with potential NCCA fines / restrictions and Title IX fall out.

How would you pitch Lincoln Riley?

For someone that's been to the playoffs 3 out of 5 seasons at his current program, money is LSU's only bargaining chip. I don't think the whole "well Orgeron won here" is a good pitch for coaches that have actual expertise.

Support
Autonomy
Long Term
Culture
Facilities
Recruiting Base
Family Benefits (if there are any in BR)
Woodward would have to sell himself too.

Ed O was a pop up in foul territory to the Catcher. Lucky for him Aranda was already on base and Brady and Burrow came after O to bat everybody home.

Always smart to grade a head coaching hire before it’s even made and before the guy even coaches a game.

That's a lot of pitches. If OU was deficient in that many areas he'd already be gone.

Not sure what your definition is of a “home run hire” but if LSU lands Aranda, Napier, Riley, or any of the names you see kicked around on here and some that haven’t would all be excellent hires. Who ever it is may not be the first choice of some posters but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a great hire. So let’s stop with all the negativity, LSU is a top notch opportunity!

There are two things we know for certain about this search:

1. Woodward has a history of making big splash hires.

2. Insiders on this board, LSU's pay sites, along with reporters in the local and national media, have said that LSU is ready to open up the checkbook and reset the entire market on coaching salaries.

So if we come away with a hire like Aranda, Napier, or Campbell, it absolutely means Woodward struck out with multiple "white whales" and had to move fairly far down on the list.

Fair to say Scott’s doing a great job like baseball hire and nobody knows who it is but they act like they have insider sources

Hate to break it to you guys but Johnson may not be the home run hire that you think. Most Arizona fans were happy to see him go for his failings at the College World Series.

Well we haven’t made it there in 4 years, and he brought your All American slugger with him here so I’m happy with him so far.

Fair to say no home run hire

It’s fair to say that no matter who it is, we won’t know if it’s home run or not for a year or 2.

Unless you are one of those guys just interested in a big name regardless of weather that person is the right coach.

Just a reminder that Saban was relatively an unknown also.
