I've read on several posts that a coach will/will not take a particular job based on facilities.

This is not directed at any team but that is a bunch of HOGwash!

Seriously, if a coach currently makes 2 mil a year at a place with nice facilities and another school which has great recruiting opportunities offers him a job making 4 mil a year, do you really believe FACILITIES will factor in as part of the decision?

No way!!!

Maybe not current facilities, but I certainly think the commitment of the AD for FUTURE facilities would matter. Why would you want to work somewhere that the Athletic department doesn't care enough about your football program to upgrade piss poor facilities? Moreover, why would want to work somewhere that doesn't have enough money to build nice facilities?

It's more about a commitment from the AD than it is current facilities, IYAM.

That was one I couldn't resist but the rest of the post was serious.

I would tend to agree with you here. In G'ville, when both Meyer and Donavan got here the facilities were dated at best. They built both up to the best in the country.

I think the point is that if two or more teams were willing to pay a coach 4 million but one had much better facilities it's easier for the coach to recruit there which translate into wins. Why do you think Miami has fallen off lately and is no longer considered a great job? Their facilities are old and they don't even have their own stadium. That doesn't mean that a coach can't be successful there but it's much, much harder in spite of all the football talent surrounding them.

Very good point. So I have to follow it up with this question....if the next coach wins big at Miami without an upgrade of facilities, where does that leave us?

Not likely to happen but possible.

If you are referring to LSU I assume LSU has great facilities. Am I wrong?

I think the primary argument you are referring to was a few Gata fans claiming that "facilities" was one of the ways in which UF is a better job than Arkansas.

It isn't true.

By defending that to a bunch of numbnuts who have never been to Fayetteville, and CAN'T BELIEEEEEEVE that Arkansas does have great facilities, Arkansas fans get called arrogant.

Facilities are a part of the equation for any successful program, IMO.

Should have been more clear....I meant where does that leave us in the conversation?

Regarding another coach winning big at Miami, I see this as very possible. They are in a recruiting hotbed, along with the other FLA schools. It would seem a team could fair quite well in the ACC. But hey, that is just my opinion.

Florida can not outpay us. We hung on to Pelphrey to ensure this. If we lose him, it will not be due to pay or facilities, it will be recruiting base and prestige.

You very well may be right. However, Ark may want to up his 2.7 mil salary. It would be hard to turn down 4 mil a year at Fla.

I think we're prepared to do that. I don't know if that will be enough if an offer comes. I am hopeful CBP is happy, but I have no info.
