this is what is f'ing wrong with ND
Not sure if what I am about to say is what you meant, but I say what is wrong with ND is the BJ NBC and the bowls give ND by even considering to continue this lame arse charade surrounding that pathetic program. Herbie said it best on Saturday morning when he interrupted the ND love fest by exclaiming that he doesn't understand why they are even having a conversation at all about a program that has not done ANYTHING for more than 20 years.

This will never happen. But if he were to leave OU and go to Notre Dame, the AD from ND should bitch slap him and ask him WTF he's thinking by leaving OU for ND.

The rumor is that the AD at OU, with whom Stoops is good friends, is headed to UM. However, if that were the case it would seem to me to make more sense to let Stoops replace RR next year.

Not quite. It's a burial ground for bad coaches (Davie, Faust, Willingham, Weis). A really good coach would succeed there.

Not unless they relax the academic restriction.

I'm not sure about that anymore. The landscape of college football has changed since Notre Dame was the big dog. Players are trying to get into the NFL as quick as possible, and not really all that interested in academics. So in my opinion those players who cannot get into Notre Dame, who normally go to BCS schools are just going to find the next coach at a BCS school that they can get into. I don't think the coach is what matters at ND.

This academics argument has been around for a long time...even when ND was one of the big dogs. They did it back then, so why is academics such a hurdle now?

IMO it's because of the money in the NFL. Elite players in my opinion are not trying to go to college to graduate. They are going there to get into the NFL. I just don't believe that any coach is going to be successful there like ND was back in the day. I just think their time has passed. Now in my opinion, those same coaches would have better success at schools with less restrictions. I think Weiss would have had better results if he were the coach at michigan, or some normal state school. Just MHO.

The coach from Cinci is what I hear. But I have heard Brian Billick's name thrown in with all the other usual names. I know ND wants the sexy big name, but honestly they aren't going to lure a big name coach away from a big BCS school.

to me this pretty much sums up why i hate notre dame so damn much. has anyone ever heard of a team "considering whether or not they want to play in a bowl game"? their elitist bullshite drives me absolutely crazy and the fact that they think they're above playing in a shitty bowl game shows how delusional everyone in that program is. they should all be on their knees in front of touchdown jesus thanking god that they even made it to a bowl game. they haven't been good in over 20 years, so why do they think that the status quo is for them to be playing in a bcs game?

Because NBC, the BCS and the NCAA allow them to continue to act like this.

Best man for this job is Nick Saban. Who else but ND can go with a blank check?

I honestly don't think he would go, but that being said if they waived a 5 million a year salary in front of him I bet he interviews. If nothing else he'll use it to get a raise from Bama should he lose in the SEC championship or lose the national championship.
