I don't understand why any school would hire him as a head coach. Syracuse, maybe, but not Clemson.

I'll laugh at Clemson fans if they get stuck with Kiffin

I think Al Davis is a Syracuse alum.

Why do you feel this way? The guys is one of the best young coaches at any level of football in this country. He is one of the best offensive minds in all of football and he is the son of one of the greatest Defensive Coaches in NFL history. He made a mistake by taking a job with Oakland instead of waiting for a better working opportunity. The guy will do incredibly well wherever he goes just because it's not the Raiders. So why do you think he is such a bad choice?

Maybe so. What makes you think this?

Well his resume at USC speaks for itself so thats one HUGE example. Another is he was making progress with the Raiders. I honestly think they would have a different record right now if he was coaching them. They are an average offensive line away from being a nasty offense. Hard to have a good offense when you have the worst offensive line in the NFL 3 years running. But outside of that their is a reason he is being mentioned for all these jobs, because he is highly respected and thought of and people know he is an incredible recruiter, gameday coach and strategist and not to mention his young age some schools will like because some schools are looking for a youthful guy to lead a big time program for awhile. Just my .02

I'm not sure many folks would be coming for him if the Raiders weren't as reckless and hired him as an OC out of USC at about 31 years old.

I doubt any other NFL organization would have done that. I have doubts any SEC program would have hired him as well.

I'm not terribly convinced he is an "incredible" recruiter, gameday coach and strategist just yet. He'll probably make a fine head coach one day but it all depends where he coaches and I think that'll be later on down the road.

I think if Tennessee were to hire(and I don't think they will), they wouldn't be a threat for awhile.

Orgeron was good at USC.
Hope Carolina hires him!

I actually think we will.

Kiffin is a crapshoot. There's so much praise for him from alot of reliable sources who should know, but at the same time, he is very unexperienced in terms of coaching.

I wouldn't be happy if we hired him, but I wouldn't be upset. I would just be in kind of a wait and see mode.

You think UT will hire him? I bet UGA and UF hope you do.

Yes, I think we will.

I don't really care what UGA and UF hope. Like I said, he may turn out to be a total bust, but there are alot of people (not just fans) who think he really has everything it takes to be very good.

But I do have reservations about him.

I know there are some NFL people who think he got the shaft in Oakland and has a lot of potential.....Are there safer picks for a program like UT? Sure, but I could easily see him bringing them back quickly.

Well, we're not in quite the mess Alabama was with the probation and all. If we get a good recruiter it's not feasible that we could be competitive again in one or two years.

I'm thinking more like three and four though (with the right hire, of course).
