No doubt that the next 8-10 days will shape the LSU football program for the next 5-10 years. With the right hire, we can remain or regain our footing as a nationally relevant program on an annual basis (something that has slowly faded since 2011). With a mistake, we could quickly find ourselves continuing that slow fade towards pre-2001 days.

The next few days are going to be fun, frustrating, disappointing and exciting, I for one plan on enjoying the ride. This is a part of college that I've come to enjoy. Hope everyone else enjoys the next 10 days.

Regardless of who the HD is if recruiting is there you won't go to pre-2001 days.

Not sure about that. The 95-97 era had a lot of talent and the best we saw was 9-2. Plus, just in the last five years, 5-3 has become too common. Recruiting is key and we have the facilities to stay atop the arms race, but coaching makes a HUGE difference.

Lol the 90s had some good players especially first team guys but those teams didn't have nearly the top end talented depth that we do now. Pretty much every DB on the team was rated a top 5 recruit at their position.
Any coach we hire whether it be O, Jimbo, or Herman is going to bring in top tier talent

Depth wasn't there, but the top level talent was pretty good on those teams. Certainly not comparing to our current talent level. Agreed any of the three coaches mentioned will bring in top 5 talent, but Miles last 5 years has shown that doesn't mean you won't slip back in to a 5-3, 4-4 conference record pattern.

I don't know, I would have gladly taken Herb Tyler the last three years.
