You mean when they were in the NCG and should've beat Auburn but lost on the last possession because a "downed knee"?

Kelly put up 27 points (the most given up that year) on our 2011 defense (considered by many to be one of our best defenses ever).

I'm not a fan of the O hire AT ALL. However, I'm not going to lose my mind if Kiffin isn't the OC. I fully believe that there are plenty of good OC's who could make LSU's offense much better than it was under Les. Hell, Ensminger, who hasn't been an OC for a decade, was able to make the offense somewhat better in the span of a few weeks. LSU's problem under Les was never that they had a bad OC. It was that the HC had an absolutely horrible, risk averse, approach on offense. Les would rather take 4 FGs from inside the 20 than attempt a pass which could be intercepted. In sum, Les was more concerned with not turning the ball over than he was with actually scoring points.
Assuming the new OC is going to move away from the Les "scared to score points" approach, the LSU's offense will be better by default regardless of who is calling the plays. This isn't like an Aranda scenario where it was clear there may not be many guys out there better than him. Kiffin is not the sole lynch pin to LSU's offensive success. Other guys can be just as effective
