I don't need a flashy hire or some exotic scheme. Just give me an OC that:
1) Can break down defensive film and devise a gameplan to use advantages
2) Can teach QBs well. I am not saying turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. Just train them to know what to expect and how to perform functions well and consistently
3) Is detail oriented and demands execution.....repeatable good execution
4) Can call plays in a timely manner and communicate them to the players / coaches so it is not a firedrill getting to the line.
I don't need a guy who can "fool" a defense (a lot). I just need a guy that knows the teams strengths and utilizes them against the defense he sees each week. I HATE to use Bama as an example, but the went undefeated in the SEC for 2 seasons by just executing well. Nothing particularly shocking and fancy. Just did what they did, did it well, did it over and over again.
EITHER of these two (IF they are really the final 2) can do that.
