If so, wouldn't it have to be this year?

He loses a lot of key players.
The arms race between Michigan and Ohio State is going affect the rest of their division.
Penn State is only going to get better.
This is likely his team's high-water mark.

I'm surprised his name isn't even mentioned at all, like it's not even an option? Is it not an option anywhere?

No, if he didn't leave for SC, he will never leave. He has about 5-7 years left.

Dantonio went to SC, I think. Not a statement about it being a top-choice destination.

Yes, in a mahogany box cushioned inside with a minimum of six people escorting him.

I think he could be Richt+ for UGA, which may put them in position to win a lot of games in the future

Why?

Michigan St is a very good coaching destination.

Ask Saban. That was 4 jobs ago.

Not unless he retires or puts hardware in the case, in which he will be pulled to the NFL

Their defense next year will be back to Rose Bowl form. They leave a lot on the offensive side of the ball but they will have a runningback stable and they're recruiting has improved greatly.

Dantonio doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would run from a good fight.

True. Plus he and his family like it there and he will retire from there. The expectations are reasonable at Michigan State and he is delivering.

Plus, MSU has facilities on par with Ohio State and Michigan. The stadium isn't as big, but the facilities are as good.

Unlike Saban, Dantonio has found an athletic director and president who fully support him. Plus Dantonio has not flirted with other jobs and isn't a dick to people like Saban was.

Yeah, Hollis is a smarmy prick, but I respect the hell out of him. They used to be a disaster administratively.

The Saban thing is funny. Knowing we what we know now, it's easy to say MSU should have given Saban the world at the time. But, the fanbase is still split on that because many of them just felt the job jumping threat every year was too much to deal with.
