Did Tubby take the Arky job or Not? sticky is now missing???

It reaffirms the fact he loved LSU....and LSU fans were hurt when he left for Miami but understood the ambition...but then he cheated on us sort of going to bama...now he wants to come back and make up and dominate...

Why? I can only speculate to the fiasco over the Petrino a couple of years ago...Tubbs is from Arky...decent job, not as good as AU IMO..

There is some truth there. Bottom line is Tubbs does want some things and commitment from AU (and probably more money). It is not an overnight commitment from either party. This is likely a LONG term commitment by Tubby and barring some unexpected drastic changes in the future, it will likely result in Tubby securing his legacy and possibly the remainder of his career at AU. Expect the offer from AU. Expect it to take weeks for the details to become final and Tubbs to sign (assuming he does). Tubbs wants some facility upgrades. Tubbs wants pay and security for assistants. Tubbs wants to take AU to the next level and has his opinion on how to get there. He stated this as recently as last night that some changes have to be made to get AU there. I am not sure what they are and how extensive they are beyond the facilities and assistants that have already been stated.

Tubbs likely does have a bit of a sore spot for how he was treated in 2003, so why should he bend over backwards to sign as quickly as possible without using some leverage to get what he wants? Tubbs has said the right things - as said right after the Iron Bowl - that this will take time and noted that his '03 extension took 2-3 weeks to get ironed out even though there was almost no speculation whether he would sign.

As to whether he likes AU - he recently built and closed on a 9k square foot home. He has two kids in the AU school system for 9 years. Some of his assistants have 9 years of roots and children in AU schools. Tubbs has kept these guys together a long time and has shown loyalty to them. Bottom line, Tubbs likes and has roots in AU now. AU has been good to him and he has been very good to AU. The AU family (vast majority), wants Tubbs to stay.

Tell me where it makes sense (or becomes a likely driving factor) for him to leave.

1. Money? No. AU will raise his salary to over $3 mil and there is a $6mil buyout going no where.

2. A better program? No. AU is arguably about as strong as any right now or very close.

3. Scared of Saban?

4. Mad at the asministration and boosters? I am sure there is a bit of a sore spot with a few boosters (Lowder) but the administration that tried to get rid of him was all fired and humiliated and the AU family stood up for him in no uncertain terms and still wants him.

Anyway, as usual the media is as irresponsible as ever (see A&M rumor and last night's reports that he was about to sign with Arky, Jerry Jones, blah blah blah), but it seems to be what fans want (far out speculation)
