WREG News 3 in Memphis just reported a "close source" has intimated LA Tech HC Derek Dooley is going to be announced as the next Mississippi State head coach.

I don't think this is a good move by him. MS State isn't an easy place to win.

I'm surprised ... I didn't think Dooley was dumb enough to take that job.

Don't think MsSt is any worse job than LaTech. He would become a very young SEC coach. He was just a gofer for Saban, but he learned how to organize and more. Looking pretty good.

But that's where coaches go to die. Not exactly a fast track for an up and coming young coach.

the local news here in Monroe just reported the same thing. I'm surprised he'd take that job if the reports are true.

I think its a good move for Moo state and Dooley. He will get a pass because it is Moo state and he gets to coach in the SEC.

It's better to coach at La Tech for a few years and build them up in a weak conference than it is to coach at MSU.

MSU is the worst job in the SEC. Well, at least in the west.

i think he could do pretty well there, not great obviously but definitely a consistent bowl team. if this year is any indication Nutt isn't going to be pulling most of the top mississippi talent, if you compare OM and state's recruiting classes right now there's a huge difference. croom was pulling in pretty much all of the talent this year. if dooley can go in and consistently do that i could see him doing pretty well

Right, and USM could never beat LSU. HUH? Sit back and watch, if Dooley gets an aggressive staff.

If so, his first hire should be Orgeron as DC/recruiting coordinator.

According to ESPN, Orgeron will be going to UT with Kiffin.
