DC hires in the NFL since 2017

There has been 25 DC hires since the start of the 2017 season.
9 - DB coaches
6 - Former HC
4 - LB coaches
3 - DL coaches
3 - Lateral DC moves
With the current shift from ground and pound run game to the explosive passing game, I can only guess that this would be what has led to the increase in DB coaches being promoted to DC.
Today's football game seems to revolve around the spread both on offense and defense.

Something to add to that. We all know that a DL is a DBs best friend, been that way for ages.
But with the evolved offenses- essentially [highly] evolved dink-n-dunk to what we see today you now need DBs to give your DL a chance to get pressure home too.
What I'm saying is the relationship between DBs and DL is more bi-directional than ever. With these spread offenses (or variants) if the QB can get an open WR in less than 2 sec. he'll find him and get the ball to him. No matter what you do, you won't be getting pressure.
So while you need to get pressure with your DL so your DBs won't have to cover forever, you now need your DBs to be able to cover those first 3 yds. better than ever so your DL has a chance to do their job. Used to, the first 3 yds. were for disrupting the route down the field.
Now the first 3 yds. determine leverage and are the defining moment of the route.
Thats at least one area in which the DBs role in the overall D has somewhat changed. And one reason, of many, why your numbers above are what they are.

What was the background of the former HCs and lateral moving DCs? Without this those numbers dont mean anything
