Cumbie turned down $1.2M/year for 3 years. Such an embarrassment for Texas Football. Things keep getting worse & worse. It's just so sad that there is this default mindset to give Charlie a 3rd year, no matter what.

Looks like UT will go for Gilbert at Tulsa, which might actually be a better fit for their personnel than Cumbie was.

Think more Baylor and less Air Raid with more power run dimensions (big sets and TE) and lots of slants and deep throws. That actually would work well with what UT has talent wise.

Biggest issue is not the O but the fact that Cumbie was a much more established recruiter than Gilbert is.

The last time a school in Texas fired their AD at the start of the season, then a head coach at the end of the season after a disastrous finish...A&M ended up with Bill Byrne and Dennis Franchione.

Be careful what you wish for.

So the TCU OC (Meacham) is most likely taking the Tulane job. That pretty much assures Cumbie is the solo OC at TCU with playing calling duties now. No reason for him to take the Texas job if that is the case.

Cany blame him for staying if he gets the play calling duties at TCU and a raise.

Gilbert may still end up being the better fit in Texas because of how his system meshes with UT's personnel.

probably a wise choice. charlie is gonna have to do a lot to not be fired after next year. Coaching at TCU right now is about as stable as it gets.

Cumbie has some stipulation that if he were to take the job, Strong would have to change up his post-game Sunday schedule, as Cumbie is insisting he be allowed to attend Sunday morning church services.

Looks more and more like Gilbert from Tulsa to UT. reports are that there is a meeting sched with the Tulsa team, so I guess we may see the UT announcement tomorrow..

May be a better "fit" with the UT roster but no where near the recruiter or have the track record at QB development at Cumbie
