Can we discuss this in the FBD?

I was first told it would be this year or next depending on what happens to Mack.

I thought when UT replaced the AD it was for this reason.

I'm much less confident about it than I was 24 hours ago, based on new information I received. But make no mistake, things have been put in place for it to happen. Assistant coaches have been offered jobs on staff. This is standard kind of stuff when there's a chance of coaching changes and coaches are considering a potential move. But based on new things I've learned today, I have to say I believe he stays.
I know this is intentionally vague. Just can't out my source, because he's been known to check in here.
Interesting BMoney. I wonder if Terry is reluctant to move again? She should know, trust Nick, her friends from BR and TTown will love visiting with her new ones on Lake Austin.

texas has systemic problems with their athletic department. Football is but one issue of concern. Its the most visible but they have plenty of other items that aren't really reported on outside of the state.

I read into it the AD wanted no part of getting Brown to retire...but I could be way off.
If Texas had beaten baylor and made a BCS bowl this thing would be even worse

That makes sense. I honestly think the odds of Texas landing Saban would be higher than they already are now if he would have beaten Auburn and Missouri and went on to win yet another national title this year. At that point a coach has got to ask themselves what now? Human nature takes over and a level of complacency and boredom with success is inevitable. THAT is when I could see him most likely to bolt for Texas. Having said that, I still think he leaves but my confidence is lower now than it was yesterday.

I have no idea either way but fellas, it's Nick Saban.
Chance to become the most heralded college football coach EVER.
National Title at 3 different schools.
More money. (rumored)
Debt taken care of. (also rumored)
Austin, TX > Tuscaloosa, AL
E G O
Just sayin….

This is literally the key to everything and can't be overstated. If this is true...gone...if not he stays. Simple as that.

Maybe I'm naive for thinking this, but I've gone from thinking it is possible to thinking maybe it's not, and it's because of the ESPN article quoting AJ McCarron saying Nick Saban told him he was staying. Why would AJ lie? The likelihood that Saban lied to McCarron is low. They are close.

or it could be he only trusts AJ with his masterplan and wants him to troll the CFB world

Lol, nah. I think that the entire situation was a strong possibility at one point. And I think Saban is still mulling it over at the most. Saban is definitely all about money, and I don't think he really LOVES Alabama. I do believe he solely sees the school as a business venture. I don't think he really cares which school he coaches for....not a loyalty thing or anything to do with his heart. However, I do believe he cares for a player like McCarron. He probably doesn't care for many of the other ones, but I think McCarron is different and he told McCarron what his honest thoughts were at THAT exact moment. Now something could change, but I think overall likelihood has plummeted.

And honestly I want him to go to Texas. I wanna be surprised and wrong,

Yeah, Saban just suckered some rich fools into paying off millions in debt. Now, it's back to work at the place he loves with all his heart! The dream is over, people. Prepare to face Bama and Saban for years to come!
