He doesn't have the personality for a college gig. That ship has sailed.

I doubt that. I think he'll go to someone like the Redskins who are looking to jumpstart a bad offense. They are also willing to spend the money.

Read this snippett:

LINK

quote:

“While Weis had originally planned a recruiting trip of the West Coast for this week, we have decided it is prudent that he return with the team and pack his boxes ... We are reorganizing the athletic department, and feel it would be best if we move the football coach's office from its current location by the stadium to coach Weis's family home in Trenton, N.J.”

In addition to the ABC report, Notre Dame has asked Coach Weis to refrain from appearing before the media, attending team practices, and using stationary that refers to him as the Notre Dame football coach.

With Weis coaching career with Notre Dame in limbo many await the decision on whether he will remain at Notre Dame or not. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick has said he would make a decision this week about whether Weis, who has six years left on his contract, will remain Notre Dame's coach.

Why would you go back to work if you were him? If I got paid 18 Mill to get fired, my arse would be saltwater fishing every day and drinking scotch on the back of my boat. WTF?

No chance.

I'm sure Weis will get a nice settlement, but since he underperformed, his settlement will be much lower than what's reported. I've heard that the buyout (just like any coach's) was tied to performance.

First, that amount includes the compensation for the next coach. Not all of that goes to Weis.

Second, most buyout clauses are not paid at once and have an offset provision that reduces the buyout by the compensation of the next job, so it is unlikely it would be anywhere near that high, esp if Weis returns to the NFL.

I don't think Weis contract is a matter of public record (unlike Miles, Stoops, Saban and Meyer, who coach at public universities) therefore, all of these numbers are conjecture. Don't forget, the NBC contract is worth almost that much in one year. They need a coach that wins.
