The massive renovation of the old Cole Fieldhouse that Maryland is planning will give them pretty incredible football facilities. I think they've even done quite a bit of work on their stadium also.
This job is definitely light years better than it was a few years ago. There is a lot of potential for a good coach.

You could say the same about Herman. And he's in the middle of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. Even the "scraps" left behind by Texas, LSU, Baylor, etc. become NFL talent. Not to mention he has a brand new, expandable stadium
Tom Herman complains about lack of fan support in his interviews. They talk about it on Houston sports radio all the time. It's a 40,000 seat stadium and it's 3/4 full for an undefeated team with an exciting offense. Expandable? It's too big now. Herman views UH as the developmental league team it is. He's gone to the first big job that offers.

I mean, a job like Texas, LSU, Florida, USC, sure. But not a middling program like A&M. I think young coaches like Herman are wising up and holding out for better jobs.
The main concern for UH isn't attendance; it's only a component of a larger problem--the inability to pay him a competitive salary like TCU did with Patterson before it joined the Big 12.
