Can't Crowton Simply Be Demoted?

If Coach Miles is so loyal to his hires yet also has the team's best interest at heart, why doesn't he just reassigned his job responsibilities, at least to get Coach Crowton through the final year of his contract?
That would allow him to hire a new offensive coordinator but would also allow him to avoid the displeasure of booting someone who's been with him through the tough times.

I'm sure Crowton isn't for the idea. Demoting is probably worse than firing.

I was thinking he could be moved to some sort of administrative assistant, maybe a quality control coach, perhaps to a position within the athletic director's umbrella.

Where the hell are you going to demote him to? QB Coach? Have you seen our QB development under him? Also, in order to get a OC we'd have to fire someone. So, demote Crowton because he sucks but fire someone else to get a new OC and let Crowton stay on staff? ...

move him to a position he obviously has an interest in: Punting Coach.

Demote him to what? He doesn't know how to teach QBs...what else is there for him to do? Besides, you never demote people. Always just fire them.
