I disagree, I think the coach of a undefeated Big 12 team with a legit shot at a national championship (unlike a Boise State) and with no ties to Tenekey wouldn't jump ship just for money.

I can see how I could be very wrong though by just looking in our own backyard at the whole Les Miles to Michigan thing.

I'm sitting next to 3 texas tech graduates in class and they say Mike Leach isn't going anywhere. Not like they know anything special...

Exactly my sentiments from Atlanta. Everything I've heard points towards him staying at UNC and building up a powerhouse. Way less expectations at a basketball school than a place like TN. Plus it isn't like UF and UGA are going away anytime soon, and that'd just be in his division. Not to mention LSU, Alabama, etc.

They would want to go after a guy who had a nervous breakdown after leaving the Browns and who has had some cancer and is just about 2 years younger than the coach that is stepping down at the end of the season?

They need youth

But, that's their problem. I hope they hire Kiffin.

Mike Leach is too outspoken and upfront to coach in any other town outside of Lubbock, Texas. He virtually revived the program down there and has built quite a team. I strongly doubt he leaves Tech.

Something else reminiscent about Tenn/Bama

Saying thanks but no thanks or not even interested:

Gruden
Davis
Cutcliffe
Spurrier

I would say with Cutcliffe and Spurrier the feeling is probably mutual.

While we're at it, I want to go ahead and say that I have no interest in the head coaching position at Tennessee.

this supposedly explains why he took the UNC job and the only four jobs the writer thinks he would leave there for. Also why he would not take Tenn:

quote:

If Davis took a job in the SEC, he would have to bang heads with powers Florida, Georgia, Alabama and LSU. And that's not to mention the second tier of Auburn, South Carolina and Tennessee.
