I have no clue who their AD is, but he has apparently made some really good hires in the past few years

Lashlee, I'll bet.
I think he's still a little too young to leave the nest

They have made 3 fricking amazing hires the last 4 years. They may not be a major program but they know who can and cannot coach.

They beat aTm a few years ago, scared the shite out of Texas and a few others along the way.

Not somebody you want to sleep on much.

I am a Hog fan first, but as long as Arkansas refuses to play them, I will be a stAte fan as well.

I hope they do well.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a town - if you judge it by nightlife only, no, guess there's not much to it.

But, as a town, there's nothing wrong with it that I can see. Nice enough, I thought.

Not a bad drive to Memphis if you need the nightlife.

Stone, there are two boys from my hometown, a small South Arkansas high school, that play for the Red Wolves.

If it bothers you that I pull for them as well, well I guess that's just tough shite.

If they don't play each other, you don't have to make a choice.

Oh, and I am also a Henderson St. fan (my alma mater), a UAM fan (close to my hometown) and a fan of any Arkansas school that is repping the state against an out of state school.

Sorry you hate the rest of the state so much.

This is the first time I've ever seen you post that you're a stAte fan. Now your constant bitching about the U of A makes more sense.

Stone, I've never hidden that I pull for stAte when they are playing. It just has never come up much.

There is no 'law' that says you can't root for more than one team. stAte and Arkansas are in direct competition in NO WAY that I can see, not for recruits, not for a conference title - wtf is wrong with wanting them to do well in their own little world too?

Now, if they were playing every year, competing for the same conference title, competing for the same recruits - well yeah, that would make a difference.

But until then, I'm just sorry that you obviously can take no pleasure in anybody doing well other than the Hogs (which in this case, has been a long couple of years for both you and I as far as the Hogs are concerned.) But, I am glad stAte has at least managed a winning record and made it to minor bowls the last few years.

Now, when it comes to ANY out of state school - I don't care if any of them lose every game. In fact, I'm not even pulling for Auburn, can't make myself do that. However, I am pulling for the conference to continue the NC steak and that's as far as I can go.

And by the way, Stone...

Re: my 'constant bitching' about the U of A is not correct. Go back and read my posts if you wish. It's not the 'U of A' I bitch about, it's some of the elitist a-hole NWA people that rile me up. Never had a thing to do with the Razorbacks.

I do believe that Long pulling a game out of Little Rock WILL have an effect, folks are naive if they think it won't. But it's something the UofA will survive, the money that no longer comes from that part of the state will be made up with NWA money. No big deal.

So by my count, you

1. Didn't attend the U of A
2. Have never lived in NWA
3. Are a stAte fan from Lower Arkansas

Maybe if you spent some time in this part of the state you would have a more informed opinion of the area and its people, instead of claiming that we're all elitist assholes.

And good luck finding another coach, hopefully you can keep him for more than 10 months this time.

Does Ark St have a real fan base for football? I remember the conference title was on the line and they had to give away a deer stand or something just to get more than 15,000 in the stadium.

for the record, the Ark St fans I have come across have all seemed like good people.

Most Arkansas State fans are also Hog fans, but not the other way around. When they hired Malzahn a few of them started being more vocal and thought they would take over the state. Boise of the South and all that nonsense.

But to answer your question, no they don't really have a lot of fans. All of stAte's fans would still root for the Hogs given the option.
