LaCanfora also reported that the Browns are expected to hire fired Lions coach Jim Schwartz as defensive coordinator, but that's contrary to CEO Joe Banner's statement on Monday that his new coach would be given free rein to hire his staff.

I don't think a quality HC will go somewhere that he can't hire his own staff. Another clown move by Cleveland.

True, but it wouldn't shock me if they had McDaniels (or someone) lined up and they okayed Schwartz in order to get him while he was still on the market.

If it's Schwartz, all signs point to McDaniels because Schwartz is from the Belichick tree.

But yeah, clown move all around from the worst franchise in the NFL.

I will eat crow if Im erong, but Okmbardi and Banner are idiots....you fire Horton who fielded a top 10 defense even after the collapse at the end of the season.

You hire a DC before you hire the head coach??? This makes no sense

Belichick loyalists doing what they do best...trying to recreate the Patriots in a different city by using retreads from the Belichick tree.

3 years as a scout is hardly enough to considered part of a coaching tree
