Look at his last five recruiting classes vs his last five records:

2017: 10th
2018: 10th
2019: 15th
2020: 18th
2021: 9th

2017: 10-3
2018: 12-1
2019: 11-2
2020: 10-2
2021: 11-1

To me, comparing his recruiting to his record tells me he wins the games he’s supposed to. He’s 1-7 all time against top 5, but what would you expect with those recruiting classes? What’s been one of our biggest complaints of the past decade? “We’re clearly the more talented team and got terribly out coached.” Every year for the past 20 years, we’ve been the more talented team for probably 10-11 of our games. I’m excited to get a coach that wins the games he’s supposed to win!

He's had to recruit against all the big schools up North with one hand tied behind his back because it's Notre Dame. Once he gets here, he'll be on an even playing field and we know he can coach these kids up and won't settle for any bullshite. We're finally getting a competent coach.
