Finding another young brilliant assistant in the NFL who would like to become a DC or OC would be my preference. Probably because I got spoiled with Brady, surely he can’t be the only brilliant assistant in the NFL who wants to prove themselves capable.

Oklahoma's OL coach is also CO OC. He is someone I would take a hard look at.

Ensminger is the common link. He recommended we make the Brady hire. He talked to Callahan and got him to leave an OC job at Samford to be an analyst here.

You can bet that Callahan didn’t leave an on-field position where he was very successful to stay an analyst. If he doesn’t move up here, he will get a P5 staff job somewhere else.

My guess would be Linehan goes to OC and Russ gets a PGC title

I can understand if they don’t want to just give the reins directly to Callaway without seeing his potential, but I would just try and keep E on for an additional year if that’s the case and promote him to PGC.

I think the expectation is that E will retire. He’s too old for all the bullshite.

He probably would have last year if Brady didn’t go back to the league.

I don’t think an analyst is going to have much say in what gets called in-game. They are usually more responsible for breaking down film, scouting opponents and helping to prep gameplans.

We do know that Callaway helped Brennan with some of his issues in the State game, because Myles specifically mentioned it in an interview. He said he showed him on film where he should have been stepping up in the pocket, rather than rolling out into the pressure. He made corrections and played much better in the next game. This is only one contribution, but it’s the same kind of thing that Munoz was credited for last year and before.

This. If they don’t feel that Russ is ready to take over the OC role, then he needs to be the PGC under E for a year. Linehan needs to be gone.

You can bet on this- if Callaway gets the promotion, it’s because Ensminger says he’s ready to handle the job on his own. If E signs off on the move, then I’m good with it.
