oh .. before he took the south carolina job and then changed his mind .. no doubt .. he was the hoops program .. point is look where it went after he changed his mind ... certainly wasn't the impetus for naming the court after him ..
ETA: just because you have a court named after you doesn't neccesarily validate greatness .. pete maravich has a building named after him and the best he could do was the NIT semi finals ..
