If Napier turns out to be the guy, I’ll support him. But in some circles around here he’s being casted as some can’t miss “we’re gonna regret not hiring this guy” phenom who’s “guaranteed to win a bunch of championships somewhere”. He’s done some good things at ULL but that’s all. I’m just trying to figure out where all of the “Sabanesque” comparisons are coming from. And to answer your question, I do NOT believe a program like LSU should pull a coach from ULL unless he was on the brink of landing them in the top 5 (see Brian Kelly and Luke Fickell at Cincinnati).

Napier will be the next head football coach at LSU. I believe he has been in talks with Woodward since last year (at the very least). Napier turned down SEC coaching opportunities and has coached/managed ULL (very successfully)for compensation less than his resume could command because he has been positioning for the LSU job. All the smokescreen, shiny object, miss-directioning is an attempt to hide the fact that Woodward has already made his decision. Anyone, if being honest, would admit Napier will be a great hire.

Agreed, and he's going to be at either LSU or Alabama imo. Depends on what LSU does here but he'd be an excellent hire
