A lot of times they don't pan out as well as the no name hire.

I remember when u.c.l.a. was jumping up and down because they hired Rick Neuheisel and norm chow. well, both had success previously but not so much now.

you can go on and on. i can't remeber every hot o.c. at a particular time. I know Dan hawkins was a big name at one point, Walt harris, tommy bowden, ect. now people think they are terrible. two of the three are out of football.

i've seen guy's like morris watts, jimbo fisher, dan mullen, and Jim McElwain get hired as virtual no names and go on to be very successful.

i really don't understand the obsession with having a name. The key is having a guy who fits, understands your talent, and plays to your strengths. you find that guy, name or no name, he will become a name.

just because florida got weis, no bigger name than u.c.l.a's now utah's chow, doesn't mean they will be lights out offensively for the next 10 years. It doesn't always work out that way.

goal should always be to win the hire, not the press conference.

unfortunately, most people would rather it be the other way around.

We have been through this. 99% of good OCs are gonna want autonomy. They are not gonna want a coach who is invoved with their offense. Kragthorpe is a fit because he is getting a second chance in a sense. He is trying to move back up the totem pole. LSU needs him and he needs LSU.
