if miles stays .. bertman's "legacy" continues to look good since he was the one that hired miles .. so of course he's going to say this .. my gut feeling is that miles is going to stay put .. for him to leave and jump into that pressure cooker and 3 to 4 year rebuilding project, UM would have to pay him at least $5mil/year base with another $2.5mil a year in additional amenities and incentives ... he's paid very very well here, doesn't have to shovel snow 4 months out of the year, and won't have to live in big bo's shadow and have lloyd carr up his arse here ..

WTF is with all the Bertman hate on this site?
People here think he's the worst AD to ever walk the face of the planet.
Never mind he hired two coaches who won national titles (one in football, one in baseball) and couldn't possibly be worse than Joe Dean.
I don't understand it, but then again it's best not to try to understand ranter logic. These are the same people pining for Fulmer, Saban, Jack Del Rio and Gruden.

I think he should keep his opinion to himself. He's in a position of influence, you and I are not. Let Alleva/Miles/Michigan figure this out. This is Alleva's job, let him do it without unneccesary distractions. He has enough of them as it is.
Nothing Skip said undermines Alleva in any way.
If anything, he helped lay out Alleva's case for why Miles should stay.
As a former AD and longtime coach, few people in Baton Rouge understand better the job Alleva has in front of him and Skip knows his job right now is to be supportive and abstain from comment. He chose to be supportive.
If you want to blame someone, blame the reporter for asking Skip his opinion.

Bertmans "legacy" was established and set well before he hired Miles.

Everything in Skip's "opinion" makes a lot of sense. Another huge negative for Miles going to Michigan is the whole Lloyd Carr scenario. Those people up there, especially the Board of Supervisors and pretty much the Athletic Department as a whole, still kiss the guy's arse and respect his opinions very highly. Lloyd Carr doesn't like Les Miles. Didn't want him last time and made his feelings known very vehemently and I would think he still wants nothing to do with him for whatever reason. Why would Les want to put up with that crap all over again? People here, both in and outside of the administration, are finally starting to become comfortable with him and give him his due.

"legacy" as an athletic administrator .. not baseball coach .. duh ..

MIles will be at LSU until he retires. I like MIles.

I agree with Skip. Les ain't going anywhere. He would be making a huge mistake. It would not take him long to realize the southern part of the country has taken over. The south is where football talent is. Even Cali. Michigan isn't such a good job anymore.

Bertman is the most successful revenue sport coach in LSU history and he brought LSU, kicking and screaming, to the top of college athletic facilities in the nation.
Of course, he's going to be hated. He was and still is successful. The hates are not and will never be successful and deep down they know it.....

Bertman also said the same thing about Saban back in 2004 and that didn't work out either. Next....
