With all of the shite being slung as pertains to USC this weekend/week and the increasing allegations surrounding USC, perhaps culminating in some draconian (maybe not, we'll see but it's not sounding good) sanctions against the program. Why the hell do you want Carroll anywhere near LSU?

It's not like we need him to build up the program from the ground, thereby being considered "worth it" (think UCLA and Neuheisal).

I'd much rather a coach without a storm cloud on his trail.

Thoughts?

I've been trying to interject this opinion into every thread which mentions how "lucky" we'd be if we only had Peter Carroll.

I wouldn't take him over Miles. Carroll has as many disappointing losses as Miles. In fact, with the talent USC has it would not be a stretch to say USC is more underperforming than LSU.

As easy as the Pac 10 is...USC should've went 12-0 every year...

You can always tell who doesn't watch any football outside the "SEC" with posts like these.

Is LSU after Carroll? No, but there's a lot of talk about fans wanting him here if he fails or wants out of the NFL (ala Saban).
Hence I wondered why.

I agree with your comment. Most LSU fans think LSU football happens in a vacuum BUT you mean to tell me that their losses to Stanford 2 years ago and Washington this year and at least 1 each year were products of a solid Pac-10? They were mental lapses and a lack in preparation.

Essentially that's my point though. Most coaches do.

I will say, Meyer drops as few "supposed to win games" as any.

Then a guy like Chris Peterson comes to mind because they roll over their conference (just like they're supposed to).

This one is gonna get me in trouble but the sweater vest (most years). He wins all of the conference games that he's supposed to. He doesn't drop the random games during the year and that's how they end up over-matched in the championship game the previous couple of years. Don't rip me on that because I'm don't stand by that one as much, but they don't drop the games that shock you like USC does.

I think most of those Carroll comments were pre-sanction rumors. If anyone would still take him now, they're not thinking clearly.

the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. a lot of names have been bantered about that just don't seem any better (or worse) than what we've got. caroll wasn't attainable anyway, just like mack brown, nick saban and urban meyer aren't available. didn't stop their names from hitting the wish list. it is difficult to find the right head coach; one that can recruit your area, one that can hire good assistants and one that can oversee everything successfully. changing coaches is a crapshoot and an expensive one at that. if we have to fire miles in a year or two, hang on because we very well could be heading to the 18 year drought bama had before getting saban.

With what allegations? McCarthy and Hicks? That's nothing compared to what happened out at USC. USC could be in major trouble and we won't be in any trouble at all at the end of the day.
