I can't imagine Kiffin would leave after one year without even getting to see if Russell is the savior or not! He gets a pass for this year with the Russell holdout.
Plus, who's to say Pete Carroll doesn't want to try the NFL again at some point then he could be the frontrunner for the USC job.
