Yes, a good hire. His teams are competitive. Better be ready to get hit. Fans cluck about the Big 10 but look at the beating they just gave Nebraska. A great history. I am an LSU fan living close to Penn State. Wisconsin is tough - he is a good coach. He also runs a class program. Some fans in the South need to lighten up.

Maybe Arky sent a volleyball player to show him around the campus and the local motorcycle dealerships.

7-5 yet steamrolled Nebraska and was 11-3 last year. At Wisconsin! This is a great hire.

A UW source quoted an influential Arkansas booster as saying, "We're going to steal your head coach, the sky's the limit and we're going to do everything he wants for facilities This place is going to spend more money than anyone ever dreamed of."

I'm sorry i'm just not gonna get pessimistic about a coach that goes to bCS games every year. i can't, nor can anyone realistically call that anything but a good hire. would i prefer a more pass oriented coach yeah.. but frick it the man has more than earned the benefit of the doubt.

a sober and realistic approach. i have to agree with your premise. he may be a damn good hire but don't expect anything but shite from the knuckleheads on here. they have coaches they "love" that aren't near as good as this guy, imo. i'd take bielema over gruden any day; bielema has proved he can get it done in collage football. if he hires the right asst's, esp good recruiters, this might be a damn good hire. when we hired miles, the shite that came out was incredible but he will end up LSU's winningest coach when it's all said and done.

he would be a good hire for a lot of schools, but not in the sec, and especially not arkansas. spread offenses like sumlin's and petrino's compensate for physically inferior offensive lines - his style of offense requires dominant olines to be successful, and there is no way in hell he'll be able to recruit well enough to get that. He basically has no credibility with kids in the midwest now, and is probably 8th in the pecking order for texas recruits.

talk about myopic, arky basically just looked at his W/L ratio and bowl games...and ignored all other relevant info. this actually pisses me off - the aggies dont deserve to be above arkansas, i wanted them to be destroyed every year so we can expand into texas, but jeff long pretty much just guaranteed they will be for at least the next five.

You'd be less delighted if they got Les. It was a closer deal than anyone on this board (from either side) would be willing to admit.

Vanderbilt would have done the same the last two years if they were in big 10. Hang your hat on that, this guy just made Arky LSU north
