Anybody following the Michigan PC?

Brandon just said he's starting up a national search today. Wants somebody that "understands Michigan". "There's been a lot of Jim Harbaugh noise out there. haven't been deaf to hearing it...I personally believe JH headed to NFL"

This is absolutely awful and I am completely embarrassed and pissed off. How Dave Brandon could possibly think that his process is good is beyond me. It might work in the corporate world, but not here. Search has not even started, starts today according to DB. Sounds like he is not even going to attempt to go after Harbaugh. People up here are completely and totally pissed off. It's like 2007 all over again. This will not end well.

I won't be pissed if its Les Miles. But a lot of other people up here will be. Maybe not though now with Hokes name in the mix. I dunno. Just announce something already.

Look, realistically what big name is going to come here 5+ days into January and screw over their former employer in having to do a search themselves? The timing of this is awful. People are pissed because why did Dave Brandon honestly need this bowl game to know that RR was not our guy? Who realistically are we going to bring in in January that is going to unite the fan base? That is why people up here are pissed. Forget what Michigan man we will hire, it's the process people are completely pissed at.

Buyout issues?
My understanding all along was that Michigan was going to wait until after the first of the year to shitcan him anyway, because RR's buyout would then be considerably less.

No. From what I've read we would have to keep RR on staff for 30 days after the buyout dropped. He needed a 30 day notice in order for us to be able to pay the reduced buyout.
Plus, if that is really why Brandon waited that is honestly ridiculous. We have the largest alumni base of any school, and a lot of those alumni have deep pockets. He could have come up with the extra 2.5 mil easily. Waiting this long because of $2.5 mil is completely and utterly stupid.

If you went to school at Michigan (as I did) any time in the last 50 years, you know what a politically correct (to a fault) institution it is. Hiring a middle-aged white guy without at least giving the appearance of having an "open" process isn't in their DNA. And the fact that they cut the PC corners in hiring Rodriguez and ended up with a problem just gives the folks in the administration and on the faculty boards more ammunition. I suspect that Brandon is having a bitch of a time fending them off.

I did, and trust me, I do know lol. Doesn't make the timing of this any better though. We've waited long enough, just want answers. I'll calm down in a few hours. ha.
