McCarty isn't going to take a pay cut and double his workload! He's got it made where he's at and is well on his way to being on par with the Coaching legends of Neville.

They'll hire someone underwhelming and that has an affiliation with the university. Nothing will ever change

You sound like a typical tard obsessed with high school sports.....you realize what a D1 coach makes? Even at ULM? MM doesn't make a third of what ULM would pay, I don't care what kind of booster support he's getting at Neville. You high school fanboys never cease to amaze me

I love the fact that people assume because a guy coaches at a low level he doesn't know ball.

Watch the two teams play and you tell me who's schemes are more complicated.

LOL you realize McCarty has something at Neville no coach at ULM will ever have..."Job Security". You can't win at ULM! Why leave to go to ULM and get fired in 5 years for not meeting the unrealistic standards that Bruno has in place? Why does everyone assume a VERY successful high school coach would be interested in that catastrophe of a job???

Because it's still an opportunity that may never come again and a step up from their current position

To an extent I agree. But let's be honest, the ULM job will be available by 2021 at the latest.

Is Chris Scelfo still in the mix? He was supposed to get the ULM job in 1998/99.... But Tulane used their crappy ninja like tactics and stole him right under their nose. (I am only serious about being offered a job from Tulane and he took that job over ULM).

Charlie Weis and Mangino in a package deal. Ulm offering free Johnnys buffet on top of their usual 35,000 yearly salary. The deal will be settled once Ulm kicks in 2 free hoverrounds to get their fat arse around

Yea it's really hard to be completely successful from a coaching standpoint in anything athletics related here. Hell our longest tenured coach hasn't won a conference title since he started coaching here in the late 90s.

Which I feel like speaks more to the university than him because he's a hell of a coach

It would be a raise not a paycut. With that being said Ulm is too narrow minded to go after a up and coming high school coach (doubt he would be intrested anyway). Each year they fall further and further from the team that is 30 miles away and going to another bowl game

It does speak to the university. They really need to go back to 1-AA/FCS level. They had success there, and were a great landing ground for some who did not work out for whatever reasons at the 1-A level. The stands were a lot fuller back then. Instead of trying to compete with La Tech, trying going back to be a damned good 1-AA program. I know there are some who find this hard to swallow due to unrealistic and foolish pride. However, as long as they are at 1-A, they will never be successful on a consistent basis.

It's going to be hard to give up the 2 million plus payout for playing the SEC teams each year. Granted they could still play those teams for a payout, but as I understand it the amount would be greatly reduced if they were a FCS team.

I'm all for going back to a FCS level and playing regional schools. I'm not traveling to Idaho or Appalachian State or Georgia, but would be glad to travel to schools within a day's drive of Monroe.

So, it's the money thing that's keeping them from returning to FCS level, IMO. Thing is, if next year is like this year, the attendance will take a big hit. Maybe at that time a decision will be forced upon the powers that be.

The question that some folks are going to have to look at and answer honestly is "what good is the high paycheck if you are getting the shite beat out of you all the time to the point that you can barely field a team of capable starters?"

Those stands would fill up a lot quicker with regional schools. By the way, same thing applies to U La La. It's time to quit being delusional and get more reality oriented.
