Any coach not in the Big 10/SEC should be trying to get a Big 10/SEC job

A lot of chatter about Brent Key and Kenny Dillingham not wanting to leave their Alma maters. I think that’s ridiculous.

The split between the Big 10/SEC and the rest of the P4 is only going to grow. I’m sure they love their schools, but a day is coming very soon where it will be financially impossible to compete.

Look at Jonathan Smith- a legit Oregon State legend, bailed for Michigan State. Yes, OSU had bigger issues, but the point still stands, coaches need to be in those 2 conferences.

Why would you leave TTU, backed by a billionaire and an easy schedule, to go to the meat grinder of the SEC? The path to the playoffs is so much easier.

ACC/B12 teams have it much easier if they have the resources for NIL

For one, I don’t think many college football coaches have the “easiest path” mindset.

Second, you named Texas Tech. TT appears to be a huge outlier. Who else in the P4 is spending like them?

We're early in the NIL era, so we need to see how it plays out.
SMU has so much money they arent taking TV rev share just to be in the ACC.
UVA just built a football ops building that is as nice as any in the SEC. They have money and are starting to spend it.
Miami paid Carson Beck $6m for just one season - and have several high profile backers including Dana White.
Imagine if Houston or UNLV can convince Tillman Fertitta to get into the NIL game.

The old guard is dead. Its money + coaching now. The old recruiting tactics are not nearly as important as they used to be.

Don’t really disagree with any of that honestly. I just don’t think it matters, the 2 super leagues are coming. It’s going to be AFC and NFC and you’re either in the club or you’re not.
