The numbers are dwindling, though you may not be alone. There is no evidence, whatsoever, that he is staying at LSU.

Crazier things have happened......

There is no evidence that Mich wants Miles other than some fan chatter, some Mich friends of Les and some former players. None of whom has a vote in the decision.

We can specualte about what is going on that we don't see, but all that we have seen is:

1. Lloyd retired, emphasizes that Mich most successful coaches were not Mich Men
2. Mich said it would start a search process, hope to finish by end of Dec.
3. The media asks Les about Mich, he gets emotional
4. The media asks Mich about Les, they say they will follow their process
5. All LSU parties, AD, Les and his agent all report they have had no contact from Mich
6. Mich forms advisory committee, membership unkown, canididate list being considered unknown
7. Mich interviews OC and DC, outcome unknown -- but no hire made
8. Mich asks LSU AD to speak with Les after SEC CG, LSU says OK
9. Miles agent still says he has not been contacted by Mich, but has spoken to LSU about Miles
10. Mich sets no timeframe for talking with Miles other than after Saturday's game

Black Coaches Association vocal about T A&M hiring witout due minority consideration. Always PC Mich Adminstration's ears perk up and they wonder if Ron English interview is enough weight to pass muster? So is this the end or is this just a courstey interview to let Les know that he was considered, but is not the guy.?

Yes.

-If he shuns his alma mater, he'll never get a second chance at that job.

-If he stays some fans (like, well, me) will always believe LSU would still be ranked #1 if he'd said 5 simple words before the Arky game:

"I'm not taking the job."

There will be some serious bridge-burnin' if he stays, IMO.

Just go.

Miles was recently asked about the Michigan job by Ouachita senior tight end Tyler Edwards, whom Miles is recruiting.

"I brought it up and asked him if he was really going to Michigan," Edwards told the Monroe News Star. "He said, 'Tyler, to tell you the truth, I plan to stay here for many years. I love it here. I love the town. I love the coaches. If you came here, I'd be your only coach.'"

Any way he wouldn't be just telling this to get a recruit??

Bill Martin formally asked for and received Skip Bertman's permission to speak with Les Miles, specifically about the head football coaching vacancy in the University of Michigan. If that's not listed under your definition of "evidence", you need to check your Funk and Wagnals. (funnier if you say it out loud)

It has occired to me. He could wait and achieve his dream of winnning a national title at LSU. Possibility.

English is a serious, legitimate HC candidate, for some schools. He was being groomed for the job. Carr may be pushing him for the job, but come on, he's 39 freakin' years old. He's got Toledo or Central Michigan (or heck Indiana or Northern Illinois) written all over him (to start). Once he goes and wins 8 or 9 games for a couple of seasons at a smaller school, he will be able to write his own ticket.

I just don't think he starts in conservative, haughty "Block M" Michigan.

Miles would've put the rumors to rest now if he was actually staying. There'sonly one reason he hasn't put the rumors to rest and instead, let them flame on all around the team: because he's leaving. I'm an LM fan and I wish he were staying but he ain't.

Do you people honestly believe that he is going to turn down Michigan without even hearing an offer or having an interview? The guy obviously said enough in his LSU interview that told the AD to put language in his contract making it expensive to head to UM. He's not taking himself out of the running before an offer is made, no matter how highly LSU fans think of themselves and what Les owes to them.

The only way he doesn't go to UM is if he doesn't get an offer.

Speaking about the head coaching position at Michgan and offering the job are not the same thing. There is reason to believe that Martin is being sent there to tell Les personally and privately why he is not going to be the choice.

English is a legit HC candidate, and the skinny on the "interviews" with both he and Debord is that they were told it was their choice to stay and see if they can stick with a new regime or seek other avenues. That the administation will support them in whatever way they choose to go. But also that realistically their candidacy for the HC at Mich is faint at best.

Also there is confirmation today that English is on a plane to So Cal. Now he recruits there, and has family there, but............

They would have communicated this to him before now, so that he could publicly withdraw his name from consideration. Michigan has nothing to gain from the chaos surrounding LSU, IF they weren't intent on hiring Les, which I believe that they are and that they will.

I don't think that it will be for $3.25m/year or whatever Les could squeeze out of this from LSU (which I don't believe that he is consciously doing), but obviously the man is not making this particular move solely for the money. He will want to make a market wage, and I think Michigan will recognize that they need to pay $2.25m to $2.75m/year for the new coach, and maybe Les is in the higher end of that, but we'll see.
