Surely Joe had a ceiling # in his pursuit of Jimbo in terms of total compensation package. Doubt he was given authority to get Jimbo at any costs or the deal would be done. Based on all the information on this board, it appears that Sexton has gone north of LSU's # perhaps.

Similarly, LSU has a ceiling # for Herman, which I would think would be south of Jimbo's #, given the disparity in their resumes.

Is Jimbo and/or Herman worth making a deal that doesn't make sense for the University? I'll hang up and listen.

People will say yes, but then they will bitch and moan when ticket and prices go up again

The only "deal" that doesn't work for the University is hiring some inept shitbag who loses games, drives down revenues, and tarnishes the brand. A championship coach will ultimately pay for himself.

The deal could already be done as far as we know. I'd bet that's the case honestly.

Its worth it, whether it makes sense or not is probably subjective
