Here's why I buy it... Schefter's career began with covering the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos owner is an OU alum.

I don't think that's a coincidence...

Is Stoops pulling a Saban by denying it all and then will end up at ND anyway? Wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe I'm dense but what do you get out of pulling a Saban. Seems like Saban didn't get a break from the Miami press and then took a beating for months thereafter for having "lied"

This is why you can't believe anything Adam Schefter says:

It's really a lose lose.

If you stay silent you get blasted for not speaking up.

If you come out and deny and then take the job, you get blasted for lying.

What's a guy to do?

Say: I'm the coach at Oklahoma and won't comment on any other job.

Definitely don't lie. Lying to the public is never a good thing.

Then people hammer you for lying anyway because you were withholding the truth. OR, they just criticize you for not answering the question and keep pressing.

Saban did it and now he's praised...his team is #2 and everyone forgot that he lied.

Stoops will attend his grandmother's funeral in Youngstown on Tuesday and will not return to OU.

I just watched Schefter on ESPNEWS and he did not report that. He said Stoops is one of ND's top candidates and that there are big money ND donors in Oklahoma, and gave some reasons why it would work. But he definitely did not report that it was a done deal in any way, shape, or form.

Going outside comfort zone here, but credible people saying today they believe Bob Stoops will wind up coaching at Notre Dame next season.

Can someone explain to me what ND AD and company sees in Stoops? Seriously. I figured they would go hard after Kelly.

Stoops does NOT strike me as an elite coach. He seems to struggle with the same things that ND has struggled with in recent years.
