I read them in grad school just for something easy to take my mind off school. I actually enjoyed them. My 12 y/o has read the series twice already and loves them.

I would recommend them. I found them to be very easy reading and entertaining. I’m not usually drawn to fiction.

I saw the first three movies first. Then I read the first 5 books before Goblet came out. I read the next two as they came out. So I was 28 when I started them.

PoA is generally regarded as the best movie. I think it has something to do with the exclusion of Voldemort.

My favorite book was HBP. And also my least favorite movie.

Darker books that are more mature, but in the vein of Harry Potter include the Magicians series, by Lev Grossman. It's not my favorite, but it is well celebrated and lots of people think it's better than HP. I only read the Magicians, which I thought was, at best, okay.

A lot of my Potter diehard fans said PoA was one of the better books and one of the worst movies because it didn't do the book any justice. I would like to one day buy all the movies and watch them. I have only seen up to OotP.

PoA is the best movie because people have a hard on for Cuaron.

And it's a good movie.

PoA is definitely where I started noticing the book crowd getting pissed on message boards and such. That was the first movie that had to start taking shortcuts from the book.

It’s also where the movies got away from movie sets and into the outdoor shots.

I was asked this the other day: If Quidditch was a real sport, and Wizards were real and such, where would it rank among the sports world.

Dead last, at least the way she wrote it. The game doesn't make any sense. It's pretty clear that Rowling just wasn't a big sports fan when she invented a game that made Harry very important without making him too good at it. The rest of the game without the snitch would actually be pretty cool to watch.

I'm 40 and read the books in my 30s. Saw the movies first and decided to read the books. Books are better than the movies, but the movies are great.

Because I love my kindle so much...I don't have many physical books that I've read that I kept(I typically don't reread books). HP series is one of the ones I still have on my bookshelf.

Harry Potter is the worst “hero” in all of literature.

I love the world JK created, but Harry sucks.

He never learns anything new after like his second year in school. He’s lazy and reckless. He’s always sprinting into trouble and putting his friends in danger. He really just survives based on his mother’s love, luck, and the ability of those around him who like him, for who knows what reason.

I told my wife that when I read what you posted, and she said she doesn't need that kind of negativity in her life and walked out the room. I yelled to her that everything Snape said about Harry was true and Harry's dad was a dick too.

I was born in 89 so I was around Harry’s age for most of the series, and I read them each like 5 times when I was a kid. I haven’t read them as an adult, but I do know that all of the movies are horrible cash grabs compared to the books.
