I finished Red Rising yesterday. I have Morning Star downloaded in Overdrive already but my hold position for Golden Son is #1 on 5 copies. I'm trying to be patient but if any of you are currently reading it through EBRPL, please hurry

Finally got my copy of the first book from OD. I’ve been waiting for around a month. About to dive in

Just finished the series. Read it because of this thread. Great stuff! I really enjoyed it.

Absolutely crushed through the first book in 3 nights after work. Great recommendation from everyone here.

I’ll echo most of everyone’s thoughts and say it’s an incredibly easy, fast and enjoyable read. I do feel like it’s just a well done mash-up of hunger games and Enders game, but I’m not ma about that in the least.

I usually use overdrive/hoopla but some things just aren’t on those apps. I’ve never downloaded a torrent do I need to use vpns and shite like the site suggests or am I good downloading the occasional book?

I usually buy the physical book of all books I read but like listening to the audiobook version on my drive. I can’t justify buying 2 versions of the same book.

Iron Gold comes out on the 16th of this month, looking forward to jumping back into this world again.

Also, I am intrigued they will have additional perspectives in this book.

I'm looking forward to it also. I didn't know we were getting multiple perspectives though!

I believe it is four POVs.

Darrow
Lysander
Lyria (Some Red girl who was just liberated)
Ephraim (Trig's husband I believe.)

Eta: also, judging by the Audible details it looks like each POV will be a separate narrator which kind of makes me sad because that's less Tim time.

It's more than that. Add in Spartacus, Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire, Lord of the Flies, and a touch of Game of Thrones. It felt like there were almost no original ideas aside from a few catch phrases that got to be annoying.

But it is a very enjoyable quick read.

Very good book.

I listened to it on Amazon's Audio, finished the first book in 2 days.

Will be getting the second and third book soon.

I’m considering starting this series, but I’m worried it’s going to be a little to Teen Fiction for my liking.

Is it?

I did not think so. The story has teenage kids so there are some teenage type things but it is very far from teen fiction. It is nothing like Hunger Games or In the Name of the Wind.

If I remember correctly, the second book fastforwards a bit and they are either in their 20s or close to it.

Also, the main character is married with a demanding job right off the bat. He doesn't really have a stereotypical teenage life.

I had the same problem. I didn’t want to read a YA novel, because I’m not a YA. But once I started it I realized it wasn’t YA. I even asked a few people, who for some reason eat YA up even though they’re not in that demographic, about the themes and language of Red Raising and whether or not that is something they have found in other novels. They said no. Also once you start understanding the universe you quickly realize that these “teenagers” are basically middle aged. They’re halfway through their life. The only people who live past 30 are either extremely lucky or rich and powerful. Give it a read you’ll be fine.

Not in content. The quality of the writing is horrible though. Probably the worst written book I've read in years and years. It's a quick, easy read so not much of a time commitment.
