What’s your favorite play?

The scripts of Tennessee Williams plays are interesting. I want to visit Columbus MS to see the architecture of his house. A Streercar Named Desire was terrible. The Ecfentricities of a nightingale was terrible. He’s like Faulkner to me.
Death of a Salesman is pretty good. Actually somewhat liked this play. The script of the Salesmen read like a pharmaceutical sales job.

I Hate Hamlet. It's the first play that actually kept my interest.

Statue of Liberty. It ultimately became Planet of the Apes.

Meh - I saw the LSU MFA students do it about 20, 25 years ago and the male lead camped it up quite a bit (Brando-style), but not so far as to ruin it. The actresses playing Blanche and Stella were outstanding and I truly enjoyed that better than the film.
But, some of the more modern pop culture stuff appeals to me, too. I would have to say - largely because of the cast and nostalgia, Spamalot is my #1a and Book of Mormon (for all the South Parky reasons you can imagine) is my #1b.

Book of Mormon
I have never laughed so hard at any other play.

Years ago, Swine Palace did a production of A Confederacy of Dunces. I loved the play, so I decided to try the book, and it became my favorite.
I took my daughter to see Phantom, which she loved. I can't wait to take her to Wicked when it comes back in town.

I would say Spamalot if I could get away with it! I get to NYC a fair bit for work, and prefer dramas to musicals. I saw The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime a few years ago on Broadway. Easily the best play I have seen in some time.
WRT Tennessee Williams: Once saw Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway with Scarlett Johansson in the lead. I was like third row center, and damn, she's hot, but she was awful in that play, and overall, the play was meh. I like Streetcar though.

I saw Superstar with a lot of the original cast. Really good !
After that, Fiddler is probably my next favorite.

“Doubt: a Parable”, by John Patrick Shanley
“A Lie of the Mind” by Sam Shepard
Also, the revival of “The Heiress” that starred the great Cherry Jones
And “Streetcar” is great onstage with the right cast.
“I have to give props to “Hamlet”. So many memorable lines and an intriguing story.
