Ambrose
If anybody that read band of brothers is looking for more in that vein, about half the guys in BoB wrote books themselves.
Winters, Compton, malarkey, and guarnere did. There may be more. I’ve never gotten around to reading them but a buddy of mine is always telling me I need to. I will one day. So I don’t know their quality but do know they’re out there. So that may not be what OP is looking for.
Cool story bro: The guy that is always recommending these books dad was in the Corp of engineers and at one point was attached to or in the same areas as easy so he has an interest in easy and BoB that others may not have.

Not so much 2 pure WWII books, more Holocaust related,
but Dr. Miklos Nyiszi's "AUSCHWITZ, A DOCTOR's EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT" and Heather Morris' "THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ" are two pretty compelling reads. The first book is the true story of a Jewish doctor forced by Mengele to perform autopsies inside the main building of the crematories. What he saw and subsequently wrote about is beyond belief even to those well versed in Auschwitz's history. The second book is self explanatory, as the author, again a true story, was one of the main tattooists responsible for tattooing the new "names" on those selected to live/work themselves to death. In this book as well, Mengele plays no small role.

John Keegan is excellent. His book about the Civil War is also well done.
