If you know me from the OT, I like to hit garage sales. I find signed books all the time.
Here are some notable signed finds:
Jim Lovell - Lost Moon
Coach K - autobiography
Anne Rice - couple books
George W Bush - forget which book
Richard Nixon - 1969 book
Norman Schwarzkopf - Desert Storm book
These are what I can remember off the top of my head. I didn’t pay more than $2-3 each for these book.
The rarest signed book I’ve ever owned was Maravich’s “Heir to a Dream”. The thing about this book, it was released in November, and he died on Jan 5th. So a signed copy is super rare. I paid $500 for it (PSA certified), and sold it years later for $1000.
Btw, it’s a great read.

I had Night Jasmine signed by Mary Lou Widmer, and The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice - but it was lost in a hurricane, along with a few others I can’t remember.
Now, I have Bridge to Terabithia signed by Katherine Paterson - but that’s it.

I used to have a signed copy of a JD Salinger paperback-not Catcher in the Rye. I found it in that used book store on Perkins Road. It might be worth something but I misplaced it long ago

Signed first of No Country for Old Men.
Signed firsts of The Things they Carried and In the Lake of the Woods.
Then a number of signed firsts Jim Harrison’s.
None worth a ton of money, but mean a lot to me, especially since I was able to hang out with Tim O’Brien and Jim Harrison for a bit.

I have a signed copy of Gustaf Hasfords "The Short Timers" that I picked up at a garage sale for a quarter. It's the book that Stanley Kubrick adapted for the movie Full Metal Jacket.
The softcover editions start around $150. Signed hardcover around $1000

I found this a couple weeks ago for $1.
I want to read it but it’s brand new, spine barely has wear. I’ve read the other two.

Cool idea. I’ve started looking for 1st editions when I’m tagged along to those antique-mart type places. I’ll have to start paying attention for signed books as well.
I only have one: John Wooden - Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court. I lucked into sitting at his table at lunch after he spoke at an American Funds due diligence meeting. He was an amazing coach, even better human.

Wife stopped in Monroeville AL during a business trip. Bought me a signed copy of To Kill a Mockingbird. Lee died just a couple of years later.
