Starting my first re-read of Wheel of Time. Few questions

1. I never read the prequel so I am starting with it. Is it good?
2. Is there a good podcast to go along with the read? Something that I could listen that discusses chapters or groups of chapters?
3. I remember there being a few books in the middle that were terrible and seemingly pointless. Should I skip any?
Thanks!

1) If its a re-read, starting with New Spring is fine, and I really like New Spring. I don't recommend starting there on a first read.
2) I have no idea, I know Tor has done some read throughs.
3) Books 8-10 are commonly referred to as The Slog. They are tough to get through at times.
The only one you can skip completely and probably get away with just reading a recap is 10, Crossroads of Twilight. A truly awful, pointless book.

For rereaders or first timers, I recommend New Spring after the third book, Dragon Reborn, by which time all of the back story that New Spring might reveal prematurely has already been revealed in its proper time.
New Spring is also more fun that way, getting to see first-hand how events happend, and catching the many shout-outs and Easter eggs.
The reread summaries at Tor, by chapter with comments, are fun on a reread too.

I loved The Dragon Reread podcast. They just finished the last book last year. Very funny realong. It felt wrong when I was past them in the books.

I just picked up Eye of the Wheel. Have never read any of them.
