Sword was one of the first fantasy books I picked up as a middle schooler, and I enjoyed Elfstones and the first book or 2 of his Magic Kingdom for Sale series.

I could not even finish Scions and did not bother to get the later books in the Magic Kingdom series. My younger brother enjoyed them all, but we reread Sword recently and were both struck by how juvenile the writing was.

There are definitely better series to spend your time on

I read it in middle school and liked it then, but definitely not sure how it would hold up today.

Loved them. Read them in the 90s. I thought each had a great story and the final had full on Walker Boh. Good stuff.
