I need some vacation book recommendations. I'll be in a cabin in north MS totally unplugged for a week. My favorite genres are thriller, mystery, historical fiction, regular fiction, true crime, classics, time travel. I basically just love a good compelling story. I don't care for biographies or romance books. Thanks!

Since you will be in Mississippi, I would recommend Greg Iles Penn Cage series. They take place in Natchez, and while they are pretty over the top, they are really entertaining and are super fast reads.

The first book in the series is The Quiet Game.

I've already read that series. I loved it and a few of his others. Do you have any others in this same vein?

I didn't realize he wrote A Man Called Ove. I loved that one.

OP here. I took Gentleman Tiger’s advice and read The Whisper Man. In a remote cabin with no phone or WiFi. Combine that with rambunctious squirrels in the cabin’s attic and I didn’t sleep for 48 hours I also read Razorblade Tears in a day. It was good, reminded me of James Lee Burke’s style a little. Thanks again
