Just came out on Audible this week and this is the first time I’ve preordered anything on there. I’m about 4 hours in but it’s hard to press pause.

Also, interestingly, Stephen King thinks this book is by the most terrifying he’s written and almost did t publish it.

In terms of pure scariness, it probably is.

The Shining and It are probably better written, more epic, and more literary. PS is pure horror. It gets overshadowed often, because it has an almost pedestrian topic. No telepaths or mythical monsters. Just good ole raising the dead.

Same as Cujo where the horror comes from the pure intensity. Again, something less "epic" than his most popular classics, but more real and scary.

I see that. It’s been forever since I read the Shining so I don’t remember that as much but in the Stand in particular there’s so much just “knowing” and extracurricular shite that takes away from the story.

That works a bit more in IT because the town itself is evil but here it’s a very simple story so far and I like it.

Probably listening to Salem’s Lot next and I know nothing about that (no spoilers!)
