For some reason this classic escaped me over the years. Was a great read. I actually thought it was pretty racy in some parts considering when it was published.

Story of a poor Irish heritage family in Brooklyn in the 1912 era. The protagonist is the daughter in the family and the book mainly focuses on her experiences in that environment.

I love this book and recommend it to anyone who hasn’t read it.

I read it at age 13.
Never forgot how she turned her breast into a monster with lipstick.

I didn’t read it either until a few years ago. It’s one of my absolute favorites.

Perconte was reading it during one of the later episodes of Band of Brothers. That made me want to give it a try.
