It's gets tough in the last 5 books.

I had to fight the urge to quit reading the series. Once I finished I was glad that I read them all, but it feels like I should have been paid for reading some of it.

Rand: "I wish I knew how to deal with the women in my life like Perrin does..."

Perrin: "I wish I knew how to talk to women the way Matt seems to..."

Matt: "Why can't my dealings with women go as smoothly as Rand's?"

All central Aes Sedai characters: "Why is this man so stubborn and stupid when I tell him only an eighth of what he needs to know and thus doesn't do what I want him to? Let's bicker among ourselves for a few chapters."

Just finished A Crown of Swords, book 7. Books 5-7 each have exciting final acts. Each are mostly comprised of the above inner monologues and exchanges. It is excruciating.

Did Robert Jordan ever meet any women in his lifetime? It doesn't read as though he had.

I actually didn't mind books 7-8.

Books 9-11 are absolutely excruciating.
