I've watched the complete GOT series. I decided before I watched the new dragon series, I really wanted to read the books. I've read A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and I'm currently reading Fire & Blood. I'm trying to figure out what to read next? I was trying to avoid the GOT books that the series are based on, and save those for last. Are there any other prequel books I should read?

ETA Sorry for another GRRM/GOT thread

I'm probably biased because I read ASOIAF first, but I think it makes more sense to read those first. The slow trickle of history is more enjoyable if you don't know it already.

Fire And Blood comes first and covers history up through Aegon III coming of age and kicking out his regents.

The Dunk and Egg stories take place during the time after the first Blackfyre rebellion after the death of Aegon IV.

The World of Ice and Fire covers is an in-universe history book covering the whole world and the kingdom’s history, but out of date in-universe because the dedication has clearly been corrected to cover three kings who ruled during the time it was written.

The World of Ice and Fire is a fictional history book that details the development of both the world and the kingdom, although it is now outdated in the fictional setting because the dedication has been altered to include all three monarchs who were in power when the book was written.
