quote:Say what you want about Ted Koppel but this is an extremely eye opening book in just how unprepared we are for an apocalyptic blackout. Read it about a year ago.
Lights Out.
If you can find it (it's an older book) look for Black Monday by Bob Reiss

Just finished Wool. Thought it was good.
I skipped the 2nd one because it was a prequel. Started the 3rd and gave up a few chapters in. I will probably pick them up later. Just not compelling enough to read back to back.

Why would you skip the 2nd book? It leads into the 3rd one.

As weird as that concept is, I'm more baffled by the idea that someone could read the first Wool book and not be interested in what went down to cause the whole situation.
Anyway, another series that fits in here I think is The Passage series by Justin Cronin. I found the second book a bit of a slog and stopped reading it for now, but the first book is outstanding.

The Road isnt really action packed. The setting is post apocalyptic, but the plot is more about the father/son relationship.

Just finished The Road. I found it underwhelming

The Road, maybe. Post apocalyptic dystopia. Of course, an appropriately cheerful
subject for McCarthy.

Reading McCarthy makes my brain hurt.
